Lady Naomi Anna Gordon-Lennox (born March 1962), known as Nimmy March, is an English actress. She is known for her many roles in British television shows.
Early Life and Adoption
Nimmy March was born in March 1962. Her birth father was from Lesotho in South Africa, and her birth mother was English. She was given up for adoption as a baby.
She was adopted by the Earl and Countess of March and Kinrara. These titles are part of the British nobility. Later, her adoptive parents became the Duke and Duchess of Richmond. At the time, her adoption was quite unusual because of her mixed heritage.
Nimmy attended Bedales School, a private school in Hampshire, England. After finishing school, she went on to study acting at a drama school.
Acting Career
Nimmy March has appeared in many popular British television series. Her roles include parts in shows like Coronation Street, Casualty, Doctors, and The Bill.
She has also been in Goodnight Sweetheart, London's Burning, and Emmerdale. More recently, she appeared in Death in Paradise and Agatha Raisin.
Beyond acting, Nimmy has also narrated television programs. In 2008, she narrated the series Last Voices of World War 1 for the History Channel. She also narrated a BBC1 documentary called The War On Loan Sharks.
Family Life
In 2004, a special rule called a Royal Warrant was made. This rule meant that children adopted by members of the nobility could now use the same titles as children born into those families. Because of this, Nimmy March gained the title Lady Naomi Burke on April 30, 2004.
She married Gavin Burke in 1999. They later divorced. Together, they have three children: Khaya, who was born in 1999; Malachy, born in 2001; and Carlotta, born in 2005.
Nimmy has four siblings, including a sister who also has mixed heritage. She follows the Buddhist faith.
