The Story of Master of the Mountain
The ninja and Sensei Wu are invited to the beautiful Kingdom of Shintaro. They meet King Vangelis and his daughter, Princess Vania. Vania quickly becomes interested in Cole.
Discovering the Dungeons
One night, a small creature called a Geckle sneaks into Cole's room. Cole notices the Geckle is wearing a necklace that belonged to his mother! Princess Vania then shows Cole a secret entrance to the Dungeons of Shintaro. Inside, they find two tribes, the Geckles and the Munce, being forced to work in mines by an evil villain called the Skull Sorcerer. Cole is captured by the sorcerer's forces.
Vania rushes back to get the other ninja. They follow her into the dungeons but are also captured by the Skull Sorcerer's "Awakened Warriors." These warriors can come back to life thanks to the sorcerer's powerful Skull of Hazza D'ur.
The Blades of Deliverance
While captured, Cole learns about the "Blades of Deliverance." These special swords were once used by a hero named "Gilly" to free the tribes from a dragon called Grief-Bringer. The tribes used to be friends, but they started fighting after the blades went missing.
The ninja manage to escape and help free the Geckles and Munce. They split up to find a way out. Kai and Zane go with the Geckles, while Lloyd, Jay, and Nya go with the Munce. Cole is forced down a different path by the Skull Sorcerer.
New Leaders and Old Secrets
Nya, Jay, and Lloyd meet the Queen of the Munce, Queen Murtessa. She takes a liking to Jay! Nya challenges Murtessa to a duel and wins, becoming the new Queen of the Munce.
Meanwhile, Kai and Zane are accused by the Geckle leader, Chancellor Gulch, of working for the Skull Sorcerer. They have to prove their innocence in a "Trial by Mino." After winning, Kai and Zane notice that a Geckle named Gleck is wearing Cole's mother's necklace. They realize that "Gilly," the hero who saved the tribes long ago, was actually Cole's mother, Lilly! Chancellor Gulch steps down, and Kai becomes the new Geckle Chancellor.
The Skull Sorcerer's True Identity
Princess Vania goes back to find Cole and saves him from giant spiders. They return to the surface and tell Sensei Wu what happened. They go to King Vangelis for help, but in a shocking twist, King Vangelis reveals that he IS the Skull Sorcerer! He traps Cole, Wu, and Vania, sending them falling into a deep abyss.
They land safely at a place called Rock-Bottom. There, they meet a group of adventurers named Fungus, Korgran, and Plundar, who call themselves "The Lowly." They explain that Vangelis also betrayed them and banished them to Rock-Bottom. Cole decides to rename their new team "The Upply."
The Heart of the Mountain
The Upply, Cole, Wu, and Vania discover the Heart of the Mountain, a legendary temple of the Masters of Earth. Sensei Wu teaches Cole about the "Spinjitzu Burst," a powerful Earth Spinjitzu move. Cole finds an old mech and uses it to help the group return to the surface.
The Final Battle
Nya and Kai try to get the Geckles and Munce to make peace, but the Skull Sorcerer attacks them with the undead dragon, Grief-Bringer. The tribes hide in a Strong-Cave. The Skull Sorcerer tricks Lloyd, capturing all the ninja and enslaving the tribes again.
Cole and his new team, The Upply, go underground to fight the Skull Sorcerer. Cole confronts him with the Blades of Deliverance, but they don't work! He then remembers his mother, Lilly, and this memory helps him unlock the Spinjitzu Burst. With this new power, Cole defeats the Skull Sorcerer, destroys his skull, and frees the Awakened Warriors and Grief-Bringer.
Princess Vania arrives with the Winged Guards of Shintaro. They arrest King Vangelis, and Vania is crowned the new Queen of Shintaro. The ninja then leave Shintaro, ready for their next adventure!
