In 2019, he joined the record label Never Broke Again, which was started by the rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again. His first major album, Mr. Crawford (2022), was a big hit. It reached number eight on the Billboard 200 music chart and was praised by critics.

Early Life

Kobe Vidal Crawford was born in Mobile, Alabama. He grew up in the Birdsville housing projects. He became interested in music when he was only nine years old.

He started performing in local shows with his brother. After a while, he took a break from music. He returned to making music when he was a teenager.

Music Career

2017–2019: Getting Started

NoCap officially started his music career in May 2017 when he released his first EP, Believe It. In 2018, his song "Legend" became popular, and the music video got over a million views on YouTube. This song was part of his first mixtape, Neighborhood Hero.

In 2019, NoCap signed with YoungBoy Never Broke Again's label, Never Broke Again, and Atlantic Records. This was a big step in his career. That same year, he released the single "Ghetto Angels". The song was a huge success and was certified Platinum, which means it sold over a million copies.

He released his second mixtape, The Backend Child, in May 2019. It was his first project to appear on the Billboard 200 chart. Later that year, in November, he released another mixtape called The Hood Dictionary. It also did well on the charts.

2020–2023: More Music and Big Hits

In July 2020, NoCap released his fourth mixtape, Steel Human. It reached number 31 on the Billboard 200 chart. The mixtape included the popular song "Count a Million," which featured rapper Lil Uzi Vert. Later that year, NoCap had to take a break from his career to handle some personal challenges.

After his break, NoCap returned to music in August 2021. He released the song "Vaccine," which became a platinum hit. This led up to his first official studio album, Mr. Crawford, released in April 2022. The album was a major success, reaching number 8 on the Billboard 200. It featured other popular artists like Kodak Black and YoungBoy Never Broke Again.

In late 2022, NoCap and YoungBoy Never Broke Again had a public disagreement on social media. After this, NoCap left the Never Broke Again label. His last project with the label was a mixtape called The Main Bird.

In 2023, NoCap was featured on the song "Thang for You" by his longtime collaborator Rylo Rodriguez. The song was a hit and became NoCap's first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

2024–Present: Recent Work

After teasing a new album for over a year, NoCap released his second studio album, Before I Disappear Again, on August 16, 2024. The album included singles like "Baby Drake" and "Yacht Party."
