Working with the Land

The Nooaitch First Nation works to manage and use the natural resources on their traditional lands. In 2007, they made an agreement with the Government of British Columbia. This agreement allowed them to harvest a certain amount of timber each year for five years. This timber came from trees that were affected by the mountain pine beetle, a tiny insect that harms pine trees. This helps them manage their forests and create economic opportunities for their community.
