Noora Noor's Music Journey
Noora started performing when she was very young, at just eight years old. By the age of 15, she signed a recording contract with Warner Music. This was a big step for her career. She then began working with a production team called Stargate (production team) to create her first album. The success of this album helped Stargate become famous international producers for R&B and soul music.
Early Albums and Challenges
Noora's first album, called Curious, came out in 1999. It was one of the first important R&B albums from Scandinavia. A song from the album, "Need You," was played a lot on "The Lick" on MTV, a popular music TV channel. Curious also did very well in Japan, selling over 40,000 copies.
It took five years for her second album, All I Am, to be released in 2004. During this time, Noora faced some health challenges. This album featured more songs that she helped write herself. She worked with songwriters from the United States and the United Kingdom. Noora also appeared on Madcon's 2007 album So Dark the Con of Man. She also sang on some songs released by Tommy Tee. In addition, Noora played the role of Maria Magdalen in a large outdoor musical show called Jesus Christ Superstar.
Recent Music and Eurovision
Her most recent album, Soul Deep, was released in Norway in March 2009. It received excellent reviews and was highly praised by Norway's newspaper Verdens Gang. This album was recorded in San Jose, California. She worked with local blues and soul musicians there. Members of the band Little Charlie & The Nightcats also played on the album. The album's producer was Kid Andersen, a very skilled Norwegian guitar player. Soul Deep was released outside Norway in 2010. The first song from the album was made available in April/May 2010 in countries like Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
In March 2011, Noora took part in the Norwegian national competition for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. This competition is called the Melodi Grand Prix. She performed the song "Gone with the Wind" in the contest.
