He played college basketball for the Hofstra Pride team. He also played a short time in the NBA during the 2001-2002 season.

Norman Richardson's Basketball Career

Norman Richardson started his professional basketball journey in 2001. He was signed by the Indiana Pacers as a free agent. This means he was not chosen in the draft but was free to sign with any team. He played three games for the Pacers.

Playing for the Pacers and Bulls

On February 19, 2002, Norman was part of a big trade. He was traded from the Pacers to the Chicago Bulls. Other players like Jalen Rose and Travis Best also went to the Bulls. In return, the Pacers received players like Ron Mercer and Metta Sandiford-Artest.

Norman wore jersey number 21 with the Pacers. When he moved to the Bulls, he changed to number 31. He played only 11 games in the NBA. In these games, he scored an average of 2.7 points per game. His last NBA game was on April 17, 2002. He played for six minutes and got one rebound in that game.

Playing Overseas and in the D-League

After his time in the NBA, Norman played for different teams around the world. He played for Scavolini Pesaro in Italy. He wore jersey number 7 for this team.

In 2003, he joined the North Charleston Lowgators in the NBA Development League (now called the G-League). This league helps players develop their skills. He played eight games for the Lowgators, averaging 6.4 points and 1.9 rebounds. He wore number 31 again.

In March 2004, Norman played for Guaiqueríes de Margarita in Venezuela. He scored 15 points in his first game with them. In 2005, he played for the Fayetteville Patriots, another D-League team, wearing jersey number 20.

He also played for Boca Juniors in Argentina in 2007. He had to leave the team after three games because of an injury. Later, he played for Polonia Warsaw in Poland, where he wore number 12. He also played for TBB Trier in Germany during the 2008-2009 season, wearing number 31.

Norman Richardson's Coaching Career

After his playing career, Norman Richardson became a basketball coach. He started as an assistant coach for the Erie BayHawks on October 20, 2016.

On September 27, 2017, he became an assistant coach for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. Most recently, he served as an assistant coach for the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA.
