When King Sihanouk stepped down, his younger half-brother, Norodom Sihamoni, became the new King. King Sihamoni also appointed Prince Yuvaneath as a top royal advisor.

Prince Yuvaneath believed that trials for past events in Cambodia would not help the country heal. He thought it was better for everyone to work together for peace. He was also honored with the Royal Order of Monisaraphon.
