North Bay Shore is a community located on Long Island in New York State. A Look Back: History of North Bay Shore
Before many homes were built, North Bay Shore was mostly covered with farms. Over time, more people moved here, and it became the community we know today.
The 1972 Airplane Incident
In 1972, a small airplane had to make an emergency landing in North Bay Shore. The pilot, Joseph Krzywonos, was flying a Cessna 150 plane. Its engine stopped working as he was trying to land at the nearby Deer Park Airport.
The plane hit a tree and power lines before stopping in a driveway on Chimney Lane. The plane was badly damaged, and some cars in the driveway were hit. The house also lost power and had broken windows. Luckily, no one was hurt in this unusual event.

North Bay Shore is located in Suffolk County, on Long Island. It covers an area of about 8.4 square kilometers (about 3.2 square miles). All of this area is land.
For the 2010 census, the area of North Bay Shore was slightly expanded. This included a small part of the Brentwood area, located west of Candlewood Road.

North Bay Shore is home to many people. In 2010, there were 18,944 residents. By 2020, the population grew to 19,619 people. The community is very diverse, with people from many different backgrounds living together.
