North Creek is a community in Snohomish County, Washington. It is an "unincorporated community." This means it does not have its own city government. Part of North Creek is actually inside the city of Bothell.
North Creek used to be a "census-designated place" (CDP). This is an area defined by the government just for counting people. In 2010, the North Creek CDP was split up. Parts of it became new areas or joined existing communities. These included Maltby, Clearview, Martha Lake, Mill Creek East, Bothell West, and Bothell East.
North Creek High School is located in this community. The high school first opened its doors in the fall of 2017.
Becoming a City
On February 2, 1993, people in North Creek voted on whether to become an official city. The idea was to "incorporate," which means forming their own local government. However, the measure did not pass. There were 1,341 votes in favor and 1,927 votes against.
Even though it didn't become a city, North Creek has grown a lot. Many people who live here work in nearby cities. This makes it a "bedroom community," where people live but travel to other places for work. North Creek is still one of the largest unincorporated communities in Snohomish County.
About North Creek's Geography
The community is named after North Creek, a stream that is about 12.6 miles long. This creek starts near the Everett Mall. It then flows south through Snohomish County and into northern King County.
The North Creek community is located along the southern part of the creek. It is just north of where the creek flows into the Sammamish River in Bothell. The area also has North Creek Park. This is a county park with wetlands where the creek flows through.
