North Eagle Butte is a small community in Dewey County, South Dakota, United States. It is called a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's a place the U.S. Census Bureau identifies for statistics, but it's not an officially incorporated city or town. In 2020, about 1,879 people lived here. North Eagle Butte is located along the 45th parallel, which is an imaginary line halfway between the Equator and the North Pole.

Location and Landscape

North Eagle Butte is found in the western part of Dewey County. It shares a border to the south with the city of Eagle Butte. It also borders Ziebach County.

Roads and Travel

U.S. Route 212 is a main road that goes through North Eagle Butte. This road can take you about 71 miles (114 km) east to Gettysburg. If you head west on the same road, you'll reach Belle Fourche, which is about 141 miles (227 km) away. Pierre, the capital city of South Dakota, is about 90 miles (145 km) to the southeast.
