The North Fork Siuslaw River is a cool river in Oregon, a state in the United States. It's like a smaller stream that flows into a bigger one called the Siuslaw River. This river starts where two creeks, Sam Creek and West Branch, meet up in the beautiful Siuslaw National Forest.
The river flows for about 27 mi (43 km) (that's about 43 kilometers). It starts near a place that used to be a community called Pawn. From there, it travels southwest until it joins the main Siuslaw River, not far from the town of Florence.

Fun Things to Do at the River
The North Fork Siuslaw River is a great spot for outdoor adventures! The United States Forest Service helps take care of a campground along the river. It's called the North Fork Siuslaw Campground.
Camping and Picnics
The campground is usually open from May to December. It has seven spots where you can set up your tent. There's also a special toilet, but remember to bring your own drinking water!
If you're looking for a place to have a picnic, check out Bender Landing County Park. It's close to Florence and has picnic tables and toilets.
Fishing in the River
This river is home to some cool fish! You can find Chinook salmon, cutthroat trout, and steelhead.
- Chinook salmon are big, strong fish that swim upriver to lay their eggs.
- Cutthroat trout are known for the red-orange marks under their jaws.
- Steelhead are a type of rainbow trout that live in the ocean but come back to freshwater to reproduce.
You can fish from a boat in some parts of the river, especially downstream from a place called Minerva. If you're fishing for wild steelhead, you must release them back into the water. This helps keep the fish population healthy.
Where the River Gets Its Water
The North Fork Siuslaw River starts when Sam Creek and West Branch join together. Many smaller streams, called tributaries, flow into the North Fork Siuslaw River along its journey. These creeks add more water to the river as it flows towards the Siuslaw River.
