Most of the homes in North Hills are detached single-family houses. This means each house stands on its own, not connected to others. These homes were mostly built in the 1990s. Many families living here have a middle income.

The neighborhood has a special group called the North Hills Neighborhood Pride Association (NHNPA). This group helps to make the community a better place. You can find out more about them on their website here.

Many streets in North Hills have names that start with "Loma." "Loma" is a Spanish word that means "hill." Examples include Loma Clara, Loma del Sur, Loma Roja, and Loma Franklin.

To the west of North Hills, there is a flood-control levee. This is a wall built to stop water from flooding the area. Beyond the levee is the Franklin Mountains State Park. This park is a natural area where no new buildings can be built. It's a great place for people to go hiking and biking.

To the east, you'll find a newer neighborhood called Sandstone Ranch. This area is still being developed. To the north of North Hills, there is undeveloped land. This land is currently used for grazing animals. However, it is planned for future development.

Parks and Schools

North Hills is home to Chuck Heinrich Park. This city park is located in the southwestern part of the neighborhood. The park and a nearby street, Andrew Barcena Drive, are named after El Paso police officers. These officers sadly died while on duty.
