The North Western Province (called Wayamba Palata in Sinhala and Vada Mael Maakaanam in Tamil) is one of the nine provinces in Sri Lanka. A province is like a large region or state within a country. This province is located in the western part of the island.

The North Western Province includes two main areas: the Kurunegala District and the Puttalam District. The capital city of this province is Kurunegala. It is also the largest city here.

The main university in the province is the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. It offers many courses for students.

The North Western Province has two main districts: (1) Kurunegala and (2) Puttalam.

• Kurunegala District: This district covers about 4,771 km² (1,842 sq mi).
