It created many jobs for people living in the area. North Westport had schools, churches, offices, and stores, making it a busy place.

Trolleys and Amusement Parks

In 1894, electric trolley services began. These trolleys connected North Westport to bigger cities like Fall River and New Bedford. The trolleys also stopped at the factory and at Lincoln Park. Lincoln Park was a popular amusement park that offered fun for everyone, especially during the summer.

Decline and Modern Day

North Westport saw a decline in the mid to late 20th century. The Westport Manufacturing Company eventually went out of business. Also, Lincoln Park closed its doors in 1987. Today, North Westport is a quiet neighborhood. It still has many small businesses and stores located along U.S. Route 6.
