Église Notre Dame Des Victoires is a beautiful Catholic church located in San Francisco, California. It was started in 1856 to help French Catholic immigrants who came to California during the Gold Rush. The church's design was inspired by the Basilique Notre-Dame de Fourvière in Lyon, France. In 1887, Pope Leo XIII made it a special "French National Church." This meant it was officially recognized as an important place for French Catholics.
The church was rebuilt and opened again in 1915. This happened after it was damaged by the big 1906 earthquake and fire in San Francisco. In 1984, the church was named a historical landmark. This means it is a protected building because of its important history.
Today, the church is still a very important place for San Francisco's French community. It is near the city's "French Quarter" around Belden Place. The church also holds a Sunday mass in French regularly.
