Nottwil is a town in Switzerland. It is located in the canton of Lucerne. Nottwil is part of the Sursee district.

History of Nottwil

Nottwil was first mentioned in old records around 1217. At that time, it was known as Nottewile. Later, in 1275, its name appeared as Otewile.

Nottwil is also home to the factory and main office of Paiste. This company is famous for making cymbals, which are musical instruments used in drum kits.

Nottwil covers an area of about 10.3 square kilometers (4 square miles). A large part of this land, about 77.8%, is used for farming. Forests cover about 8.9% of the area.

The town itself, with its buildings and roads, takes up about 12.6% of the land. A very small part, about 0.7%, is made up of non-productive areas like rivers or mountains.
