Neuenkirch is a municipality located in the Sursee district. It is part of the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland.

History of Neuenkirch
Neuenkirch was first mentioned in official records in 1256. Back then, it was called nova ecclesia. A few years later, in 1259, its name appeared as Nuwenkilch.
Geography and Landscape
Neuenkirch covers an area of about 25.5 square kilometers. A large part of this land, about 71.2%, is used for farming. Forests cover another 19.6% of the area.
About 9.2% of the land has buildings or roads. The remaining small part, 0.1%, includes rivers or other natural features.
Villages and Hamlets
The municipality is located near the upper end of Lake Sempach. It includes the main village of Neuenkirch. Many smaller hamlets are also part of it. These include Adelwil, Hellbühl, and Rippertschwand. The historic Schloss Wartensee is also found here.

Neuenkirch has a population of about 7,174 people as of 2020. A small part of the population, about 8.2% in 2007, were foreign nationals. The population has grown by about 12.8% over the last ten years.
