Notus is a small city in Canyon County, Idaho. It is a quiet, rural place. In 2010, about 531 people lived there. Notus is the smallest of the eight towns in Canyon County. It is also part of the larger Boise metropolitan area.

Notus: A Look Back in Time
The city of Notus is found along Highway 20/26 today. A long time ago, in 1874, a post office called "Lower Boise" was set up here. This post office helped the town grow in this spot.
The name "Notus" has an interesting story. A local railroad official's daughter thought "notus" was a Native American word. She believed it meant "it's all right." For a short time, the town was almost named 'Lemp'.
In 1926, a secondary school was built in Notus. The old building was taken down in 2017.
