Nowshera Virkan (Urdu: نوشہره وِركاں) is a town and a special administrative area called a tehsil in Punjab, Pakistan. It's located west of the big industrial city of Gujranwala. This area is well-known for growing a lot of rice!

Nowshera Virkan has always been an important place for local activities. Many families, like the Arain, Rajput, Jutt, and Syed families, have lived here for a long time. It is part of the Gujranwala District and is one of its largest administrative divisions.
This tehsil is located between three important cities: Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Sheikhupura. Many people in Nowshera Virkan have family names linked to military backgrounds, such as Arain, Bhuttah, Maan, Rajput, Virk, Syed, and Goraya.
Understanding Local Elections
People in Nowshera Virkan elect representatives to speak for them. These representatives work to improve the area. For example, Ijaz Khan was a well-known leader who was elected four times as a Member of the National Assembly (MNA). He was part of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) political party.
After Ijaz Khan passed away, his son, Chaudhry Bilal Ijaz, was elected as an MNA when he was only 25 years old. He won in 2002 as a member of the Pakistan Muslim League (Q). Later, other leaders like Mudassir Qayyum Nahra and Chaudry Tussadiq Masud Khan also served as MNAs for this region.
