Nöel Leslie, also known as the Countess of Rothes, was a brave woman famous for surviving the sinking of the Titanic in 1912. She was married to Norman Leslie, who was the Earl of Rothes from 1893 to 1927. When they married in 1900, she became the Countess of Rothes.

Birth and Childhood

Nöel Leslie was born on December 25, 1878, in Kensington, London, England. She spent her early years growing up in Gloucestershire. During her childhood, she lived in several beautiful homes. These included Prinknash Park in Gloucestershire, Chateau de Retival in Normandy, France, and a townhouse in Kensington, London.

Marriage and Title

On April 19, 1900, Nöel married Norman Leslie. He had already been the Earl of Rothes for almost seven years. When they married, she officially became the Countess of Rothes. In 1904, she moved to Leslie, Scotland, where she lived with Norman for the rest of his life.

The Titanic Disaster

Nöel Leslie is most remembered for her incredible survival story from the RMS Titanic disaster. On April 14, 1912, while traveling on the famous ship, it hit an iceberg. The Titanic began to sink, and the disaster continued into April 15. Nöel was one of the lucky survivors. She lived for many more years, passing away in 1956, 44 years after the sinking.

Second Marriage

After her husband Norman passed away in 1927, Nöel married Claud Macfie. He was her last husband and died after her. When she married Claud and after Norman's death, she no longer held the title of Countess of Rothes.

Passing Away

Nöel Leslie died on September 12, 1956, in England, the same country where she was born. She was buried in Sussex, England. Today, she is well-known among historians and others for her heroic actions during the Titanic disaster and for her time as the Countess of Rothes.
