Oak Mountain is a mountain in the northern Peninsular Ranges System. It is located in Riverside County, in southern California.
Exploring Oak Mountain
Oak Mountain is a special place with two main high points, called peaks. The northern peak is taller, reaching about 2,706 feet (825 m) high. The southern peak is a bit lower, at about 2,126 feet (648 m).
These peaks are found to the east of the city of Temecula. They help separate two valleys: Pauba Valley and Butterfield Valley.
Peaks and Valleys
A deep cut in the land, called Temecula Creek Canyon, runs between the two peaks of Oak Mountain. At the start of this canyon, you'll find the Vail Lake Dam. This dam helps create Vail Lake.
Vail Lake is a large water reservoir. It sits near the base of Oak Mountain. You can find it to the east of the southern peak and to the southeast of the northern peak.

Other interesting places are close to Oak Mountain. To the north, you'll see the Black Hills. To the south, there is Agua Tibia Mountain.
Each peak of Oak Mountain has its own exact spot on a map. The northern peak is located at 33°30′57″N 116°58′38″W / 33.51583°N 116.97722°W. The southern peak is located at 33°29′11″N 117°00′40″W / 33.48639°N 117.01111°W.
