The Oasis Shopping Centre is a popular place to shop and visit in Broadbeach, Queensland, Australia. It's located right on the Broadbeach Mall, a busy area on the beautiful Gold Coast, Queensland. This centre offers many different stores, places to eat, and services for everyone.
History of The Oasis
The land where The Oasis Shopping Centre now stands has an interesting past. Before the centre was built, the site was used as a mineral sand mine.
Later, in 1955, a hotel called the Lennons Broadbeach Hotel was built there. This hotel was eventually taken down in 1987. The area was then redeveloped, and The Oasis Shopping Centre officially opened its doors on August 29, 1989.
In 2012, a company called Brookfield Asset Management bought the shopping centre. Later, in March 2015, it was purchased by two new owners: Abacus Property Group and KKR.
Stores and Services
The Oasis Shopping Centre is home to many different shops and services. You can find a variety of retail stores selling clothes, gifts, and other items.
Beyond shopping, the centre also provides useful services. These include:
- Doctors and dentists
- Fitness centres and massage services

- A travel club
The Oasis Monorail
One of the unique features of The Oasis Shopping Centre was its own Monorail system. This monorail helped connect different parts of Broadbeach.
It linked the beach, the shopping centre, the Sofitel Gold Coast resort, and Jupiters Hotel & Casino. The monorail had two stations inside The Oasis on Level 2. It also had a station at Jupiters Hotel & Casino.
Monorail History
The monorail first opened to passengers in 1989, at the same time as the shopping centre. It was originally known as the Gol'Coasta.
In 2001, the company running the monorail bought most of the track and the trains from another monorail system. These parts originally came from the Merry Hill Shopping Centre in England.
The monorail closed for maintenance in late 2013. It reopened to passengers on December 18, 2014. However, it eventually closed permanently on January 29, 2017.
