Obake no Q-Tarō (オバケのQ太郎), often called Obake no Kyū-Tarō, is a fun Japanese manga and anime series. It was created by the famous duo Fujiko Fujio. The story is about a friendly ghost named Q-Tarō, who lives with a human family called the Ōharas.
Q-Tarō is also known as "Q-chan" or "Oba-Q". He loves to play tricks, fly around, and sometimes even steal food! But there's one thing he's really scared of: dogs. The series usually shows the funny adventures of Q-Tarō and his friends.
The manga was first drawn between 1964 and 1966. Later, new stories were made from 1971 to 1974 and in 1976. An English version of the manga was published in Japan under the name Q the Spook.
There have been three different Obake no Q-Tarō anime TV shows.
- The first show was in black and white. It aired from 1965 to 1967 on Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS).
- The second series was in color. It ran from 1971 to 1972 on Nippon TV.
- The third series aired from 1985 to 1987 on TV Asahi.
The show was even broadcast in the United States in the 1970s as Little Ghost Q-Taro. This made it one of the few works by Fujiko Fujio to be shown in English.
