Obion is a town in Obion County, Tennessee, United States, along the Obion River. The population was 1,119 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Union City, TN–KY Micropolitan Statistical Area.
Contents
History
Originally called Obion Station, the community was started in 1872 on land owned by William M. Wilson. The town was a stop on the Chesapeake, Ohio & Southwestern Railroad.
Geography
Obion is located at 36°15′55″N 89°11′32″W / 36.26528°N 89.19222°W (36.265406, -89.192299).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all land.
