Oil City is a small town in Caddo Parish, Louisiana. In 2010, about 1,000 people lived there. Oil City is located on Louisiana Highway 1, just north of Caddo Lake. It is part of the larger area around Shreveport and Bossier City.

History of Oil City
The park in Oil City is named after Earl Williamson. He was a local politician who worked for the Caddo Parish police jury for many years. A "police jury" is like a local government council in Louisiana. He also served as mayor of Vivian twice.
John Charles "Chip" Dickey, Jr., was the mayor of Oil City from 2005 until he passed away in 2016. He worked hard to bring new businesses and projects to the town, like the community center and new restaurants. His father, John Charles Dickey, Sr., was also the mayor of Oil City from 1968 to 1976.
Geography of Oil City
Oil City is in the northwestern part of Caddo Parish. It is located at 32°44′32″N 93°58′28″W / 32.74222°N 93.97444°W. Downtown Shreveport is about 21 miles (34 km) to the southeast. Vivian is about 9 miles (14 km) to the north.
The United States Census Bureau says that Oil City covers a total area of about 1.85 square miles (4.78 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, about 1.78 square miles (4.62 square kilometers). A small part, about 0.07 square miles (0.17 square kilometers), is water.
