Oldfield is a small, quiet community in Christian County, Missouri, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of the larger Christian County.

About Oldfield

Oldfield is located in the beautiful state of Missouri. It sits about 2.6 miles (4.2 km) southeast of a town called Sparta. You can find it where two roads, Route 125 and Route T, meet. Another nearby community, Chadwick, is about 3.2 miles (5.1 km) to the southeast along Route 125. Oldfield is quite high up, with an elevation of 1,381 feet (which is about 421 meters) above sea level. It's also part of the larger Springfield, Missouri, area, which is a big group of towns and cities connected together.

A Look at Oldfield's Past

Oldfield once had a train service! In the spring of 1883, a part of the St. Louis–San Francisco Railway (also known as Frisco) built a train line. This line connected Ozark, Missouri to Chadwick, Missouri, passing through Oldfield. This made it easier for people and goods to travel to and from the community.

However, passenger train service on the Frisco line stopped in March 1933. Just a year later, in 1934, the entire train line from Ozark to Chadwick was completely closed down. This meant that trains no longer ran through Oldfield.

Music and Fun

Oldfield is home to a special place called the Oldfield Opry. This is a weekly country music show where people come together to enjoy classic country and western style music. The show happens every Saturday night. It's operated on a donations-only basis, meaning people give what they can to support the music. People travel from many miles away to listen to the talented musicians and enjoy the friendly atmosphere.
