Olive Stokes Mix was an American actress. She was born on April 10, 1887, and passed away on November 1, 1972.
Her Early Life
Olive M. Stokes was born in a place called Indian Territory. Her parents were James Henry Stokes and Georgia Ann Russell. They ran a ranch near Dewey, Oklahoma.
Olive's mother was Cherokee. This means Olive Stokes was also recognized as "Cherokee by blood." She finished her studies at Ward-Belmont College in 1907.
Her Acting Career
When she was young, Olive Stokes helped out a lot. She worked on her family's ranch. She also helped her mother with a boarding house for oil workers.
Olive Mix mostly acted in short Western films. These movies were often about cowboys and ranch life. Some of her film roles included:

She also invested in oil wells and mines. This included a uranium mine located in Utah. In 1962, she was interviewed on a CBC Radio show. The program was called The Unreal West.
Her Family Life
Olive Stokes married the famous Western film star Tom Mix in 1909. She was his third wife. They later divorced in 1917.
Olive and Tom had a daughter together named Ruth Mix. Ruth was born in 1912 and passed away in 1977. Ruth also became an actress and appeared in Western movies. Olive Stokes Mix passed away in 1972. She was 85 years old. Her death happened in Los Angeles, California. Her grandson, Hick Hill, also became an actor. He appeared in Westerns during the 1960s.
