Early Life and Youth Soccer
Olivia Smith was born in North York, Ontario, Canada. She grew up in Whitby. Olivia started playing soccer in a local house league. Later, she joined several competitive teams. These included Oshawa Kicks SC, Ajax SC, and Markham FC. She then played for North Toronto SC.
After that, Olivia joined the Ontario Regional Excel (REX) program. This program helps young players develop their skills. It was later renamed NDC Ontario. Before going to college, she returned to North Toronto SC to train. She had planned to play for the Florida State Seminoles.
College Soccer Journey
Olivia first planned to go to Florida State University. However, she decided to attend Penn State University instead. There, she played for the women's soccer team.
First College Game and Goal
Olivia played her first college game on September 18, 2022. She came into the game as a substitute. Her first goal for the team was on September 25. After playing for one season, she chose to become a professional player. This meant she gave up her remaining time in college soccer.
Professional Club Career
In 2022, Olivia played for the North Toronto Nitros in League1 Ontario. This was before she turned professional.
Success in League1 Ontario
She made her debut on May 7. In her next game on May 14, she scored her first goal. On May 18, she scored two goals in one match. Olivia scored four goals in a single game on June 18. Her team won that game 6–1.
After the season, Olivia won many awards. She was named Young Player of the Season. She also won Forward of the Year. She received the Golden Boot award for scoring the most goals. Olivia scored 18 goals in just 11 games. She was also chosen for the league's First Team All-Star and U18 All-Star teams.
Playing in Portugal with Sporting CP
In July 2023, Olivia signed her first professional contract. She joined Sporting CP, a club in Portugal. She signed a three-year deal. In her first league game, she scored a goal and helped set up another.
