Omar Abdullahi Mohamed, born on May 5, 1996, is a professional football player from Somalia. He plays as a midfielder for the Somalia national team.

Early Life and Moving to the U.S.
Omar Mohamed was born in Mogadishu, Somalia. He lived there until he was six years old. Then, his family moved to Cairo, Egypt. In 2005, when Omar was about nine, his family moved again to the United States. He grew up in Columbus, Ohio.
Omar's Football Journey
Starting Out in Youth Football
Omar Mohamed began playing organized soccer when he was 12 years old. He played for a local youth team in Columbus called FC Blast. When he was 16, he joined the academy team of Columbus Crew, a professional soccer club. He even trained with their main team and played in four games for their reserve team, scoring two goals. In 2015, Omar also played college soccer for one year at Jackson College.
Playing as a Professional
In January 2016, Omar Mohamed signed with a new team called FC Cincinnati. This team was part of the United Soccer League.
The next year, in March 2017, Omar joined another USL team, Portland Timbers 2.
After playing for USL League Two team Des Moines Menace, Omar moved to Greenville Triumph SC. He joined them on February 8, 2019, for their first season in USL League One.
After the 2020 season, Greenville Triumph decided not to renew Omar's contract. He then moved to Turkey and joined the team Menemenspor on January 22, 2021.
Playing for Somalia
In September 2019, Omar Mohamed was chosen to play for the Somalia national football team. This was for the World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe. On September 5, 2019, he played his first game for Somalia, and they won 1–0 against Zimbabwe. A few days later, on September 10, 2019, he scored his first goal for Somalia in their second game against Zimbabwe.
In December 2019, Omar was called up again for the Somalia national football team to play in the 2019 CECAFA Cup in Uganda. He played in all the group matches for Somalia and scored their only goal in the tournament. Somalia won one game against Burundi national football team, lost one against Uganda national football team, and had two draws against Djibouti national football team and Eritrea national football team.
