Omar Rashad Tyree (born April 15, 1969) is an African-American novelist, which means he writes books. He is famous for his popular book For the Love of Money. He also helped write Mayor for Life: The Incredible Story of Marion Barry Jr. with Marion Barry.

About Omar Tyree
Early Life and School
Omar Tyree was born in 1969 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the United States. He finished Central High School in 1987. After high school, he went to the University of Pittsburgh. There, he first studied to become a pharmacist, someone who prepares and sells medicines.
In 1989, he moved to Howard University. He earned a degree in print journalism from Howard University in 1991. This means he learned how to write for newspapers and magazines.
Starting His Own Business
When he was in his early twenties, Omar Tyree started his own business. He created a book publishing company called Mar Productions. This company helped him release his first fiction books. An entrepreneur is someone who starts a business.
More recently, Tyree released his first movie, The Lure of Young Women.
His Career as a Writer
Soon after graduating from college, Omar Tyree began working as a reporter. He was also an assistant editor at a newspaper called The Capitol Spotlight. Later, he became the chief reporter for News Dimensions.
In 2003, Tyree released a hip-hop music album called Rising Up!.
His first non-fiction book, The Equation: Applying the 4 Indisputable Components of Business Success, came out in January 2009. Non-fiction means it's about real facts and events, not made-up stories.

Omar Tyree has received several awards for his writing:
