Omari Spellman is a professional basketball player. He was born on July 21, 1997. He plays for the Wonju DB Promy team in the Korean Basketball League (KBL). Omari also has Lebanese citizenship. He played college basketball for the Villanova Wildcats. With Villanova, he helped his team win a national championship in 2018. The Atlanta Hawks picked him in the 2018 NBA draft.

Early Life and High School Basketball
Omari Spellman was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He started high school in New York. Later, he moved to North Royalton High School in Ohio. As a sophomore, he scored about 22 points and grabbed nearly 10 rebounds per game.
Before his junior year, Omari went to the MacDuffie School in Massachusetts. He played his final high school season at St. Thomas More in Connecticut. In his senior year (2015–16), he averaged 16 points and seven rebounds. Omari was chosen to play in the 2016 Jordan Brand Classic. In that game, he scored 12 points and got 15 rebounds.
Experts thought Omari was one of the top high school players in 2016. He was ranked among the best power forwards.
College Career at Villanova
Omari Spellman had to take a "redshirt" year when he first started college. This meant he practiced with the team but did not play in games. During this time, he worked hard to get healthier and lost a lot of weight.
As a redshirt freshman, Omari was a great shooter from long distance. He scored a season-high 27 points in a game against Temple. In the "Sweet 16" round of the NCAA tournament, he had 18 points and eight rebounds. He helped his team, Villanova, win the national championship in 2018. After this successful season, Omari decided to enter the NBA draft.
Professional Basketball Journey
Starting with the Atlanta Hawks
On June 21, 2018, the Atlanta Hawks picked Omari Spellman in the NBA draft. He was one of four Villanova players chosen that year. Omari signed his contract with the Hawks in July 2018.
He also played some games for the Hawks' minor league team, the Erie BayHawks. In his first game with them, he scored 28 points and had 14 rebounds.
Playing for the Golden State Warriors
In July 2019, Omari was traded to the Golden State Warriors. He played for them during the 2019–2020 season.
Time with the Iowa Wolves
In February 2020, Omari was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was then sent to their minor league team, the Iowa Wolves. With the Wolves, he had a "triple-double" in one game. This means he reached double digits in three different stats: 18 points, 14 rebounds, and 12 assists. He did not play any games for the Timberwolves.
Return to the Erie BayHawks
In January 2021, Omari signed again with the Erie BayHawks in the NBA G League.
Success in Korea with Anyang KGC
On August 31, 2021, Omari Spellman signed with Anyang KGC in the Korean Basketball League. In March 2023, his team won the gold medal in the EASL Champions Week tournament. Omari was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of that tournament. In May 2023, he also won his first KBL championship.
Playing in Russia with Zenit Saint Petersburg
On July 31, 2024, Omari signed with Zenit Saint Petersburg in Russia. His contract with them ended on January 21, 2025.
Back to Korea with Wonju DB Promy
On February 10, 2025, Omari Spellman signed with Wonju DB Promy in the Korean Basketball League (KBL). He joined the team to replace another player.
National Team Career
On April 18, 2023, Omari Spellman became a citizen of Lebanon. He then joined the Lebanon men's national basketball team.
Personal Life
Omari Spellman has two younger siblings who also play basketball. His brother, Arashma Parks, plays for Temple University. His sister, Taiyier Parks, plays for Michigan State.
