One Nashville Place is a tall building, called a skyscraper, located in Nashville, Tennessee. It stands on Fourth Avenue and Commerce Street. This building was finished in 1985. It has 25 floors and is about 359 feet (109 meters) tall. Its shape is like an octagon, and it has a dark glass outside. People in Nashville often call it R2-D2 because it reminds them of the character from the Star Wars movies! It is currently the fourteenth tallest building in Nashville.
Building History
This skyscraper was built between 1983 and 1985. As mentioned, many people in Nashville call it R2-D2. This fun nickname comes from the famous robot character in the Star Wars movies.
Over the years, different company names have been displayed at the very top of the building. Today, you can see the sign for Regions Financial Corporation. Their new logo was put up on May 12, 2013. Before Regions, other banks had their names on top. These included Dominion Bank, First Union, and Firstar. Companies sometimes change names or are bought by other companies.
Who Owns This Building?
Buildings like One Nashville Place are often bought and sold by different companies. In late 2014, a group of investors from Boston, called TA Associates Realty, bought the building. Later, in September 2018, the building was sold again. This time, Unico Properties, a company from Seattle, bought it. They paid $139.5 million for One Nashville Place. Unico Properties now owns the building.
