Onifai (which is called Oniai in the Sardinian language) is a small town, also known as a comune or municipality, located on the beautiful island of Sardinia in Italy. It's about 200 kilometers (124 miles) north of Cagliari, the capital city of Sardinia. Onifai is also about 40 kilometers (25 miles) east of Nuoro and just 5 kilometers (3 miles) inland from the amazing Gulf of Orosei.
The main ways people make a living in Onifai are through farming and raising sheep. The town is especially famous for its delicious pecorino cheese. Most of this cheese is sent to other parts of Europe, the United States, and Canada. Onifai also produces a special wine called vernaccia, which is made from Cannonau grapes. As of December 31, 2004, Onifai had a population of 765 people and covered an area of 43.0 square kilometers (16.6 square miles).
Onifai shares its borders with several other towns: Galtellì, Irgoli, Orosei, and Siniscola.
