The Opheim–West Poplar River Border Crossing is a special place where the United States meets Canada. It connects the small town of Opheim, Montana in the US with Rockglen, Saskatchewan in Canada. You can reach this crossing by following Montana Highway 24 on the American side and Saskatchewan Highway 2 on the Canadian side.

This border crossing is one of the quietest along the long border between the two countries. Not many people use it each day. It's so far away from big cities that the border officers who work there actually live in homes right next to their stations. This helps them be ready to help travelers.

Over the years, the buildings at the crossing have been updated. In 2004, the US built a new, larger station. Canada also replaced its border station at West Poplar River in 2015. These new buildings help the officers do their important job of checking people and goods.

Climate at the Border

The area around the Opheim–West Poplar River Border Crossing experiences a wide range of weather. Summers can be quite warm, while winters are very cold. The region gets some rain, especially in late spring and summer. Snowfall is common during the winter months.
