Bromus orcuttianus is a type of grass often called Orcutt's brome. It belongs to a group of grasses known as brome grasses. This plant is found in different parts of western North America.

Where It Grows

Orcutt's brome grows naturally in western North America. You can find it from the state of Washington all the way south to Baja California. This area includes parts of Mexico and the United States. It can live in many different kinds of places, like forests, grasslands, and hillsides.

What It Looks Like

This grass is a perennial. This means it lives for more than two years. It can grow quite tall, sometimes reaching up to 1.6 meters, which is about 5 feet.

The plant has a special flower cluster called an inflorescence. This part looks like an open group of small flower clusters, called spikelets. The lower spikelets often hang down or nod. These spikelets are flat. They also have short, bristle-like parts called awns at the tips of their seeds.
