Order of the Phoenix facts for kids
The Order of the Phoenix is a secret group in the Harry Potter stories. It was created by Albus Dumbledore. The Order's main goal was to fight against Lord Voldemort and his followers, known as the Death Eaters. The group is so important that the fifth Harry Potter book is named after it: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Secret Headquarters
The Order of the Phoenix had a secret base. It was located at Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place. This was the old family home of Sirius Black.
Albus Dumbledore was the "Secret-Keeper" for the Order. This meant that only he could tell others where the headquarters was. This made the location very safe. After Dumbledore's death in the sixth book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the headquarters was no longer safe. The Order then moved its base to The Burrow. This was the home of the Weasley family.
