Death Eater facts for kids
Death Eaters are fictional characters from the Harry Potter series of books by J. K. Rowling. They are a group of bad wizards and witches who follow Lord Voldemort. Their main goal is to help Voldemort take over the wizarding world. They also want to control people who are not magical and treat magical creatures like goblins and elves unfairly.
Death Eaters believe that wizards and witches from old magical families, called Pure-Bloods, are better than everyone else. They especially dislike wizards and witches whose parents are not magical, calling them "mudbloods." They want to get rid of them.
However, not all Death Eaters are Pure-Bloods themselves. For example, their leader Lord Voldemort, whose original name was Tom Riddle, is a Half-Blood because his father was not a wizard. Also, Severus Snape, who was a spy for the Death Eaters but later became a double agent, is a Half-Blood because his father was not a wizard. Even Fenrir Greyback, who is a werewolf, is allowed to be a Death Eater. Hermione Granger noticed that many Death Eaters must be Half-Bloods because there are too many of them for them all to be Pure-Bloods.
