Orelia is a suburb located in the southern part of Perth, a major city in Western Australia. It is part of the City of Kwinana area.
Did you know that Orelia is named after a ship? Many suburbs in Kwinana got their names this way! The ship named Orelia sailed all the way to Fremantle in October 1829. It brought new settlers to the Swan River Colony, which was an early settlement in Western Australia. Building in the Orelia area started much later, in 1952.
Orelia Avenue is the main street that runs through the suburb where people live. You might notice that the houses on the west side look different from the newer homes built on the east side. This mix of old and new styles gives Orelia its unique look and feel.
