Orinoca is a small town. In 2001, it had 163 people living there. It is the main town for the Orinoca District.
Where is Orinoca?
Orinoca is high up in the mountains. It sits 3,788 meters (about 12,428 feet) above sea level. This is like being on top of a very tall mountain!
The town is about 185 kilometers (115 miles) south of Oruro. Oruro is the capital city of the Oruro Department. Orinoca is also about 20 kilometers (12 miles) west of Lake Poopó.
Lake Poopó
Lake Poopó used to be the second-largest lake in Bolivia. However, by December 2015, most of the lake had dried up. Only a few wet areas were left. Scientists are not sure if the lake can fully recover from this long dry period.
Getting to Orinoca
You can reach Orinoca by road. There is a bus service that visits the town twice a week. This helps connect Orinoca with other places.

The village of Isallavi is part of the Orinoca District. This village is famous because it is the birthplace of Evo Morales.
