Orlando Miller Salmon (born January 13, 1969) is a former professional baseball player from Panama. He mostly played as a shortstop in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1994 to 1997.
Baseball Career
Orlando Miller began his professional baseball journey in 1988. He first signed with the New York Yankees.
Minor League Journey
After a trade, Miller joined the Houston organization. In 1991, he played for two teams: the Jackson Generals and the Osceola Astros. These teams were part of the minor leagues, which are like stepping stones to the major leagues.
He returned to Jackson in 1992. Later that season, he moved up to a higher minor league level, playing for the Tucson Toros. Miller played for the Toros again in 1993.
Major League Debut
In 1994, Orlando Miller got his big chance. He made it to Major League Baseball with the Houston Astros. He played for the Astros for three seasons.
After his time with the Astros, he finished his MLB career. He played for the Detroit Tigers in 1997.
Later Career
Even after his time in MLB, Miller continued to play baseball. He spent eleven more seasons in the minor leagues. This included playing for teams in the Mexican League, like the Guerreros de Oaxaca in 2000. He also played for the Olmecas de Tabasco in 2002.
In 2007, he played for the Sioux Falls Canaries. He ended his long minor league career with the Edmonton Cracker-Cats in 2008.
