Changuinola is a lively city in the Bocas del Toro Province of Panama. It's the main city of the Changuinola District. Many visitors come here because it's a great starting point to explore places like Bocas Town, Almirante, and Chiriqui Grande. Changuinola is special because it's surrounded by the Changuinola River and huge banana farms.

Getting Around Changuinola
You can reach Changuinola by flying, driving, or even by boat!
Flying to Changuinola
You can fly into Capitán Manuel Niño International Airport. Flights come from Panama City on Air Panama. These flights happen daily, but sometimes they can be delayed. This is often due to the frequent thunderstorms and heavy rains. There are no direct flights from places like the United States, Canada, or Mexico.
Traveling by Land
Buses are a common way to travel. They connect Changuinola with Almirante, David, and Panama City. If you are traveling to or from Costa Rica, you will need to go through customs. This happens in Sixaola (Costa Rica) and Guabito (Panama). Buses are often a more reliable choice when the weather is bad.
City Life and Buildings
Changuinola is surrounded by many banana farms. Because of this, the city is divided into small farm communities. These are called "Fincas," like "Finca 4," which means "Farm 4."
Main Roads and Airport
The city has one main road that goes from south to north. If you follow it to the end and turn left, you can reach Guabito. This is a border town. The "Manuel Niño" International Airport is a small airport. From here, you can catch flights to Panama City.
Sports and Bridges
The Calvin Byron Stadium is in the El Empalme neighborhood. This stadium is the home of the Bocas del Toro baseball team. The bridge over the Changuinola River was built in 2009. It replaced an older railroad bridge from 1920 that was right next to it. Changuinola was rebuilt after a strong earthquake in April 1991.
