Where the Moth Lives
This moth likes to live in wet, grassy areas. These places are often called swampy tussock grasslands. It also likes the edges of slow-moving streams.
What the Moth Looks Like
Male moths have a wingspan of about 14 to 17 millimeters. Female moths are a bit bigger. Their wingspan is usually between 15 and 20 millimeters.
Life Cycle and Food
Adult moths can be seen flying from early November to early February. The young moths, called larvae, eat different kinds of plants. They feed on Sphagnum, Funaria, and Breutelia species. They also eat a plant called Juncus bufonius.
