History of the Orpheum Theatre
The Orpheum Theatre has a long and interesting history. It has hosted many different types of performances.
Major Renovations and Reopening
In the 1970s, the theatre was updated. Then, in 1998, a big renovation project was finished. This project made the Orpheum even better for large Broadway shows. After this work, the musical "Show Boat" was the first big production to be performed there.
Famous Shows and Performances
The Orpheum Theatre has been home to many popular Broadway shows. For example, the musical Wicked played there for two years, from 2009 to 2010.
Famous music groups have also performed at the Orpheum. The band Grateful Dead gave six concerts there in July 1976. The theatre also hosted the TV show Late Night with Conan O'Brien for a week in 2007.

Some shows even started at the Orpheum Theatre before moving to Broadway in New York City. These included:
