Ortuella is a town and municipality located in the province of Biscay, in the Autonomous Community of Basque Country, northern Spain. It is part of the Greater Bilbao region.

A Brief History of Ortuella
Ortuella was once part of the Valley of Somorrostro and connected to Santurtzi. In 1901, Ortuella became its own separate municipality. This happened because its population grew a lot during the mining boom in the late 1800s. The district of Ortuella had the most people in the area.
For a while, the town was called "Santurce-Ortuella." But in the 1980s, the name was officially changed to just "Ortuella." This was the name people living there usually used anyway.
On October 23, 1980, a very sad event occurred in Ortuella. An accident happened at the Marcelino Ugalde Primary School. This event deeply affected the community.
The town's patron saint is Saint Felix of Cantalica. His feast day is May 18, and the main church in Ortuella is named after him.
