Oscar Nathan Harris (born November 6, 1939 – died January 28, 2020) was an important American leader. He worked as an accountant and businessman. He also served as a politician, including being a member of the North Carolina Senate.

Oscar Harris was born in Newton Grove, North Carolina. He later went to Campbell University. There, he earned a degree called a Bachelor of Science (BS).
Career and Public Service

Military Service
He was a part of the United States Marine Corps. He served from 1958 to 1961. After that, he was in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1961 to 1966.

Harris served as the mayor of Dunn, North Carolina, for many years. His first time as mayor was from 1987 to 1995. He then served again from 2003 to 2019.
He was also a member of the North Carolina Senate. This is a group of lawmakers for the state of North Carolina. He served in the Senate from 1998 to 2002. Harris was a member of the Democratic Party.
