His first game in the Primera División was on October 5, 2005. Independiente won that game 2–0 against Newell's Old Boys.
On June 10, 2007, Oscar even scored a goal from a penalty kick for Independiente! After that, he moved to Spain to play for Getafe in July 2007. He helped his team keep a "clean sheet," meaning the other team didn't score any goals. Sunderland made it to the final of the Football League Cup that year, but Oscar was a substitute in that game.
After his time in England, Oscar returned to Argentina again to play for Newell's Old Boys in July 2014. Later, in December 2015, he moved to Mexico to play for Atlas. While playing for Atlas in November 2017, he had a very serious knee injury that kept him from playing for many months.
