Discover the Oshawa Centre's Past
The Oshawa Centre first opened its doors in 1956. Back then, it was an outdoor shopping area called a plaza. In 1968, the plaza was enclosed. This means it was covered to become an indoor mall.
Major Mall Makeover: 2013-2016
From 2013 to 2016, the Oshawa Centre went through a huge renovation. This project cost $230 million. It added 60 new stores to the mall. The grand opening for this expanded part was on September 29, 2016.
During this time, the old Zellers store was taken down. This made space for more parking. The mall also got a brand new food court. It can seat 1000 people. This new food court is now in the east part of the mall.
