Zellers was a very well-known Canadian store. It was once the second-largest chain of its kind in Canada. Zellers sold many different products, like clothes, toys, and home goods, all at good prices. Its main office was in Brampton, Ontario. Zellers also had a fun mascot named "Zeddy," who was a friendly teddy bear.
In 2011, a big change happened for Zellers. Another large store company, Target Corporation, decided to open stores in Canada. Target bought the rights to use the buildings where 189 Zellers stores were located. This meant that most Zellers stores would close down. The Zellers name officially left most Canadian shopping areas by March 31, 2013.
However, two Zellers stores stayed open for a while longer. These were in Toronto and Ottawa, Ontario. They finally closed their doors on January 26, 2020.
