What Happened to Target Canada?
Target Canada opened its first stores in 2013. They took over many locations that were once Zellers stores. People were excited about Target coming to Canada. However, the company had problems with its supply chain. This meant it was hard to get products to the stores on time. Prices were also sometimes higher than expected.
Why Did Target Canada Close?
Because of these problems, Target Canada started losing a lot of money. Even though they tried to fix things, they couldn't make enough sales. In early 2015, the company announced it would close all its stores. This was a big surprise for many shoppers and employees. All 133 stores closed their doors by April 2015.
Where Were Target Canada Stores?
In 2015, there were 133 Target stores across Canada. The main office for Target Canada was in Mississauga, Ontario. Many of these stores were in large shopping malls or plazas. After they closed, other stores like Walmart, Lowe's, and Marshalls took over some of the empty spaces.
