Oskar Lindblom (born on August 15, 1996) is a professional ice hockey forward from Sweden. He currently plays for Brynäs IF in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). Before this, he played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks.

Oskar Lindblom's Early Life
Oskar Lindblom was born in Gävle, Sweden. Growing up, one of his favorite hockey players was Nicklas Bäckström, who also came from Gävle. Oskar's dad, Johan, played for several Swedish hockey teams. Oskar and his two brothers, Marcus and Linus, started playing hockey when they were very young. Their dad helped them a lot.
All three brothers began playing hockey in the Brynäs IF junior ice hockey program. Oskar became captain of the Brynäs under-16 team in the 2011–12 season. He was so good that he moved up to the under-18 team after scoring 18 points in just nine games.
He also played in the TV-pucken tournament twice, in 2011 and 2012. In his first year, he was second on his team in goals and points. The next year, he was an alternate captain and scored 20 points in eight games. This was the second-highest score of anyone in the tournament. Before being drafted, Lindblom had 13 goals and 33 points in 43 games with Brynäs in the J20 SuperElit. This is the top level of junior hockey in Sweden.
Oskar Lindblom's Hockey Career
Oskar Lindblom started his hockey career with Brynäs IF. He played on their U16, U18, and U20 junior teams. In the 2014–15 season, his amazing play earned him a spot on the professional team. This team plays in the Swedish Hockey League, which is the top league in Sweden.
The Philadelphia Flyers picked Lindblom in the fifth round of the 2014 NHL entry draft. He was the 138th player chosen overall. In the 2016–17 season with Brynäs IF, Lindblom was one of the top scorers in the league. He had 47 points in 52 games. At the end of that season, he was named "Forward of the Year."
Playing for the Philadelphia Flyers
On May 30, 2017, Lindblom signed a three-year contract with the Philadelphia Flyers. He first played for the Flyers' minor league team, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, in the American Hockey League (AHL). On January 18, 2018, Lindblom was chosen to play in the 2018 AHL All-Star game.
He was called up to the NHL for the first time on February 19, 2018. Two days later, he played his first NHL game against the Montreal Canadiens. He earned his first NHL point on March 17 against the Carolina Hurricanes. The very next day, Lindblom scored his first NHL goal in a 6–3 win against the Washington Capitals.
Oskar's Battle with Cancer
On December 13, 2019, Oskar Lindblom was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma. This is a type of bone cancer. This news meant he would likely miss the rest of the season. On July 2, 2020, Lindblom finished his chemotherapy treatments.
After his brave fight against cancer, Lindblom was chosen as one of three finalists for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. This award is given to the player who best shows perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.
On September 3, 2020, Lindblom made an amazing return to play in a playoff game against the New York Islanders. He played for over 17 minutes, showing his strength and determination.
On April 18, 2021, the Flyers honored Lindblom at their annual Hockey Fights Cancer game. This was his first such game since returning to play after his cancer treatment. He was named a finalist for the Masterton Trophy again. On June 15, he won the award!
After the 2021–22 season, the Flyers decided to end Lindblom's contract early. This decision surprised many reporters and fans.
Time with the San Jose Sharks
On July 13, 2022, Lindblom signed a two-year contract with the San Jose Sharks as a free agent.
Returning to Sweden
After his contract with the Sharks ended, Oskar Lindblom decided to return to his home country. He signed a two-year contract with his original Swedish team, Brynäs IF, on May 8, 2024. This was just in time for their return to the SHL.

Lindblom played for Team Sweden in the 2013 World U-17 Hockey Challenge. He helped Sweden win a Gold Medal and was the top scorer in the tournament.
On May 9, 2019, Lindblom was chosen to play for the senior Swedish team. He made his international debut at the 2019 World Championships in Slovakia.
Oskar Lindblom's Family Life
Oskar Lindblom's older brother, Marcus, also plays hockey for Strömsbro IF. Their younger brother, Linus, plays in the Brynäs IF junior system.
